Our Story
"from the inside out." — Roseville, Michigan
Founded in Faith
Outstretched Arms H.E.R. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) faith-based ministry located in Roseville, Michigan. We serve women and single mothers navigating crisis — offering resources, prayer, biblical counseling, and direct practical support.
The name is not a metaphor. It is a posture. When a woman arrives at her lowest point — no housing, no food, no safety — Outstretched Arms is exactly that: arms open, no judgment, no waiting list, no bureaucratic wall between her and what she needs.
H.E.R. stands for Healing. Empowering. Restoring. That sequence is intentional. We meet the immediate need first. Then we walk alongside the healing. Then we help build what comes next.

Founder & Executive Director
Pastor Toni-Brooke Brown began this work in the streets in 1993, alongside her parents and husband, ministering to men and women in crisis. She is founder and executive director of both God's Storehouse (37 years) and Outstretched Arms H.E.R. (founded 2009 — 17 years).
For over 30 years she has led this work with no salaried staff, a deep volunteer corps, and the kind of community trust that takes decades to build.

Our Conviction
Every woman who walks through our doors is received as she is — not as a case number, not as a statistic, not as a project. She is a neighbor. She is a mother. She is a daughter of God.
We do not believe in temporary fixes that leave people more dependent. We believe in walking alongside — meeting the immediate need, building the relationship, and staying present long enough to see what comes next.

2025 — The Real Work
In 2025, Outstretched Arms H.E.R. showed up — quietly, consistently, and without fanfare — for women across Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland County.

"No programs that exist only on paper. Every act of service represents a real woman, a real family, a real moment of crisis met with real help."
Emergency hotel and motel stays for women with nowhere to go tonight — no waiting list, no delay.
Back rent paid, evictions stopped. A mother and her children stayed home because someone showed up.
Utility bills covered — electric, gas, water — so a family could stay warm and stable.
Beds purchased for children in separate households. Every child deserves a place to rest.
Appliances delivered to mothers setting up new homes — because a kitchen matters.
Bus tickets and gas assistance so women could get to work, appointments, and a new life.
Diapers and formula distributed. No mother should choose between feeding herself and her child.
Back-to-school supplies for children of single mothers — because a child's education cannot wait.
Down payments and transition funds for women leaving abuse. One woman came back with testimonies of thanksgiving.
H.E.R. Circle gatherings and one-on-one counseling — healing that starts on the inside.
Confidentiality is sacred to us. The women we serve trust us with their most vulnerable moments. We do not share names, photos, or identifying details — only the testimony of what God made possible through your generosity.

This woman received transition support through the Outstretched Arms New Beginnings Fund — resources, finances, and prayer that helped her move from crisis to safe, stable housing. She has returned multiple times since with testimonies of thanksgiving. This is the work.
