What We Do
Every program listed here is operating today. This is not aspirational — it is the real work Outstretched Arms H.E.R. did in 2025 and continues to do.
01
Immediate CrisisCrisis Housing
When a woman has nowhere to go tonight, we find her a room. No waiting list, no bureaucratic delay. We place women in crisis in hotel and motel stays immediately, then work alongside them toward stable housing.
02
HousingHousing Stability
We pay back rent directly for single mothers facing eviction. Keeping a family in their home is almost always less costly — financially and emotionally — than recovering from displacement.
03
Home EssentialsHome Essentials
We have purchased refrigerators, stoves, and essential appliances for mothers setting up new households. We have purchased beds for the children of single mothers in separate households — because every child deserves to sleep in a bed.
04
Immediate CrisisUtilities
Electric, gas, and water bills paid for single mothers to keep essential services running. We do not let a family sit in the dark or the cold because of a bill they could not cover this month.
05
AccessTransportation
Transportation is a barrier to everything — work, appointments, school, services. We distribute bus tickets and provide gas assistance so women can move through their lives without being stopped by a tank of gas or a fare.
06
Infant & ChildInfant & Child
We distribute diapers and infant formula to single mothers with babies. No mother should have to choose between feeding herself and feeding her child. We make sure she does not have to.
07
ChildrenEducation
Every fall, we provide school supplies for the children of single mothers. Every child starts the school year with what they need to learn — backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and the dignity of showing up ready.
08
HealingCounseling
Confidential, faith-grounded counseling for women navigating life's hardest seasons. Our counseling is not a referral to somewhere else — it happens here, with people who know this community.
09
HealingNew Beginnings
We have provided down payments and transition funds to women leaving abusive relationships, helping them move forward into safety and stability. One woman who received this support has returned repeatedly — with testimonies of thanksgiving and a life rebuilt.
10
CommunityCommunity
Women's circles for fellowship, prayer, and mutual support. A safe space where healing begins in community — where women who have walked through the same fire can sit together and know they are not alone.
11
Basic NeedsFood & Hygiene
Through our connection to God's Storehouse, H.E.R. participants have access to weekly grocery distribution and hygiene kits. Because dignity starts with having what you need.
12
AccessResource Navigation
We do not hand someone a list of phone numbers and send them away. We make warm handoffs — to housing, healthcare, employment, childcare, and community resources. We stay present through the transition.
Ministry Partnership
We are a sister ministry of God's Storehouse, sharing a 37-year infrastructure of community trust, volunteer networks, and partner relationships in Roseville, Michigan. H.E.R. participants have access to the full God's Storehouse program portfolio — 14 programs across food security, hygiene, housing support, and spiritual care.
All three ministries — God's Storehouse, Outstretched Arms H.E.R., and the W.R.A.P. teaching ministry — unite at the God's Storehouse Transformation Center, the new facility that will house and scale this work for the next generation.
